Prospectus
1. General Information
Founded on January 1, 1997 NDS is an English Medium, Co-educational, Day Cum Residential School, run on Public school lines. The school started functioning from April 1, 1997 as a unique educational concept harmonizing the best concepts and virtues, true to the vedic idealism of “Aanobhadra Kartvya yantu Vishwatha” - let noble thoughts come to us from all sides.
2. Aims & Objects
Our aim is to impart Man Making Education and to achieve it we impart integrated education to children, drawing the best from Indian culture and traditions of the past. We develop their personality on progressive lines with a comprehensive mental outlook, self-confidence based on sound character and good conduct to face the future eloquently.
The School endeavours to seek excellence in the sacred field of learning and provides modern education with effective emphasis on eternal moral values enshrined in our rich tradition and culture.
3. Prayer, Yoga & Meditation
It is obligatory for all children to participate in daily silent prayer and meditation, in cultural and aesthetic activities and its moral instructions. Special emphasis is laid upon yoga such that the child has a perfect control over the mind, senses and body. However, religious instructions, when imparted, will be purely optional to be followed.
4. Curriculum
The school is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi and prepares candidates from Std. I to XII in accordance with the syllabi prescribed by the Board from time to time
5. Library
The library is the nerve centre of an educational; complex and more so in a residential institution like NDS. Due emphasis is, therefore, laid on encouraging the students to spend all available time in the library, in addition to the specific hours provided for this purpose in the work schedule
6. Staff
The School has a battery of qualified and experienced staff members who are dedicated and devoted to children's welfare.
7. Computers
The School, keeping in mind the extensive use of the electronic media, envisages for its students from Std. I onwards, an effective Computer Learning Programme. The advanced technology machines under LAN environment with latest software teaching material in accordance with the CBSE syllubus, is being used in the school computer centre. Each student is provided with a computer with ample time under experienced, qualified and innovative computer instructors.
8. The House System
The school has a very effective House System to ensure maximum participation of children in maximum activities. The children from Std.II onwards are divided into four houses, each house named after legendary personalities, constanly providing them impetus and inspiration. The houses are named after Dhruv, Eklavya, Abhimanyu and Nachiketa.
9. Assessment
The progress of students in their studies will be evaluated continuously through assignments, tests etc. In addition, at the end of each term, there will be examination. If the performance of the student is considered to be unsatisfactory, he may have to repeat his studies in the particular standard. This eventually will however, be rare as the student will be given special remedial instruction whenever its necessity arises. In standards X and XII, the students will take the public examination conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi.
10. Progress Report
A consolidated evaluation-report of the child in co-curricular activities and other related information about the child will be send to the parents/guardian at the end of every term.
11. Scholarship
Outstanding students will be awarded scholarship in the field of Academics, Sports & Cultural Activities
12. Medical Facilities
The Nirmal Ashram Trust has a well equipped hospital manned by competent doctors and personnel at Rishikesh. However the campus has a well equipped infirmary under the supervision of qualified Nursing Personnel who are residents in the campus and will be available round the clock. Prescribed medicines and diet in case of ordinary illness will be provided without any extra charges. However if a child needs special medical attention the expenses incurred shall be borne by the parents. While filling up forms for registration and admission, parents are requested to disclose all previous medical history sheets and line of treatment are also to be submitted to the School Doctor at the time of handing over the child to the school
13. Leave
Students are not permitted to be away from the school during terms. However, the Principal may grant for valid reasons, leave not exceeding six working days during an academic year.
14. Boarding and Lodging
Hostel and Dormitories: Boarders will live in the hostel situated in the campus. accomodation for residential students is available in spacious dormitories. Each dormotory will have independent study places, lockers and common wash room. Hostel will also have House Masters/Mistress functioning as Resident cousellor assisted by Matrons who will not only look after the well-being of each student as foster parent but also guide them in the development of their personality.
15. BOARDING:
Adjacent to the dormitory is the mess hall where wholesome, only vegetarian food will be served under hygienic conditions. Special Care will be taken to make the food dietically well balanced and nuitritious. As an all India Institution, the school will have arrangement for combining a widely acceptable Cosmopolitan fare instead of catering special and exclusive regional tastes in food.
16. Hostel services:
Apart from the Residential Counsellors, the services of Matrons, Dormitory Assistant and ayahs are provided. The Residential complex has a utility-centre for its Boarders to provide them the services of barber, cobbler, tailor, laundry, a canteen for toiletry and other miscelleneous items of daily use and need. The services will be charged and debited to the personal account of the student availing them. If any article issued to the student or any other property of the school is damaged by any deliberate act attributable to any student, the articles will be replaced or made good by the student concerned
17. Letter writing:
Students are encouraged to write regularly to their parents/guardian during the first period on Saturday, The class-teachers will ensure that all students write to their parents. Parents are advised to instruct their children before sending them to the school, to regularly write to them. The Resident Counsellors will also help the students to write periodically to their parents or friends.
18. Entertainment:
COMMON ROOM: Each hostel has a spacious common room provided with Audio-visual facilities, newspapers, magazines and facilities for indoor games like table tennis, carrom and chess. The common room will be open for the boarders during specified hours and can also be used as a meeting place for students of different classes.
19. CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES:
In order to ensure the development of the personality of the student, they will engage themselves in a wide variety of co-curricular activities. These include Sports & Games, both indoor & outdoor, such as Cricket, Football, Hockey, Lawn Tennis, Volley-Ball, Basket Ball, Badminton, Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Roller-Skating and many more. For students who like more vigorous and adventurous activities, camping, hill climbing, trekking, hiking & rafting etc. will offer attractive alternatives.
20. Rules for Withdrawal
Those who are admitted to the school and subsequently wish to withdraw, for whatever reason, will forefeit the entire fee paid. Three months notice in writing is required for the withdrawal of a student. In case of failure to give the said notice, fee for one full term will be charged in addition to the current term fees. Parents are required to carefully go through this condition for withdrawal before they admit their ward to the school.
21. Discipline
All students are to abide strictly by the discipline and routine of the school at all times as laid down by the Academic Council and enforced by the school authorities. Use of profane words, insulting language or immoral behaviour or possession of tobacco, intoxicants and any kind of harmful drugs is strictly forbidden. Private electronic equipments, Radios, cassettes etc, are not allowed to be kept by the children, Breach of such discipline will entail summary expulsion from the school. If any student is expelled from the school, the entire fee paid during that academic year shall be forfeited, irrespective of the date of such expulsion. However the caution deposit amount remaining in the account of such student after adjustments, if any shall be refunded.
22. School Almanac & Vacations
The school almanac will be a ready reckoner for the parents/guardian which will reflect the entire year's programme and activities of the school. The parents are advised to adhere to terms of parents visits)OPEN DAY), vacations, and examinations.
23. Transport Facility
The school has a well managed fleet of buses to commute its students to and fro on existing rates. This facility will be provided and charged for the entire academic session and cannot be availed in part thereof, except with the permission of the Principal/Management.

Summer : 08.00 hrs. to 13.30 hrs.
Winter : 08.30 hrs. to 14.00 hrs |
